C.J. Critt's wacky characterizations of Louisa Brannigan, press secretary to Senator Nolan Bishop, and her certifiable neighbor, Pete Streeter, are filled with laugh-out-loud humor. When Pete, a Hollywood screenwriter who is researching crooked politicians, accidentally gets Louisa fired, she joins his investigative team and the fun and games begin. Critt manipulates screeching vocal tones when Louisa finds Pete in his birthday suit in her kitchen. He steals her morning paper, parks in her spot and keeps her up all night with incessant telephone calls. Prolonged sexual scenes intended to be comic aren't humorous, but an alluring sexual tension is well done. Otherwise, Critt delivers a beguiling comedy full of fluff and fun. G.D.W.
