Lewis's fitting conclusion to her trilogy (after The Preacher's Daughter and The Englisher ) skillfully finishes the story of an Amish girl torn between her family's way of life and her artistic dreams. Annie Zook has been wrestling with the decision of whether to commit her life to the church even though it would mean giving up her art for good. Also complicating her life is Ben Martin, the non-Amish boy she fell in love with but sent away. Ben's own life and identity are tested when he learns a secret that his parents have kept from him for his entire life. Anyone who savors Amish fiction will treasure this fine series. The author has a solid grasp of Amish life and is a great storyteller. Highly recommended. Lewis makes her home in Colorado.
