The Alexandria link a novel

Berry, Steve 1955- (Author).

Summary: Cotton Malone retired from the high-risk world of elite operatives for the U.S. Justice Department to lead the low-key life of a rare-book dealer. But his quiet existence is shattered when he receives an anonymous e-mail: "You have something I want. You're the only person on earth who knows where to find it. Go get it. You have 72 hours. If I don't hear from you, you will be childless". His horrified ex-wife confirms that the threat is real: Their teenage son has been kidnapped. When Malone's Copenhagen bookshop is burned to the ground, it becomes brutally clear that those responsible will stop at nothing to get what they want. And what they want is nothing less than the lost Library of Alexandria. Cotton must provide 'The Alexandria Link' to the mysterious caller. So begins a thriller that takes Cotton through Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. Malone knows what the link is but has sworn secrecy. He must rely on the skills he gained and the people he knows from his time as an agent in Thw Magellan Billet, an ultra-secret U.S. government agency. He may be retired, but he is back in the thick of international espionage, and the price could be his son's life or worse, he could have to reveal the 'Link', which could destabilize the world and end life as we know it for all mankind. The story centers on the origins of the Bible, it's various interpretations and the possibility of human error in translating the Old Testament from 'Old Hebrew' to Latin and then to all other modern day languages. The people behind this conspiracy are from an ages old European secret society. The Israeli government could be involved. All Middle-Eastern governments are involved. The U.S. government is involved. How high up the conspiracy goes is amazing. The book takes the ever-tumultuous Middle-East and it's effects on the international stage, and opens the age old dispute over the land of Palestine, demonstrating how the instability could be used to the advantage of the powerful and wealthy.
